My Life: Elliott Whittington

Hello, my name is Elliott Irvin Whittington-Booker. I am 15 years old right now and I am going to be a sophomore (10th grade) in Cicely L Tyson Performing and Fine Arts. I was born in January 8, 1999. My favorite hobbies and things I love to do is watch TV, my favorite and only sport is Basketball and the one thing I love more than any thing except my family is video games( mostly shooting games.) My Performing Arts (PA) is TV & Film. I don't care what job I want, as long as it have to do with TV & Film, video games, or basketball. My favorite subject of all time is math. I am a total expert at math. I can pass any test that has to do with Mathematics.

   *On the last male mentoring event there were alot of guys there who were inspiring. They was giving speeches on their life and was influencing us to follow their lead or do better.  The guys were telling stories about their important parts in there life. To me i thought it was very inspiring to me. They told us how to be leaders and follow our dreams. To me Dr.Davis was the most inspiring. He talked about being a doctor and how he got there. It really helped most of us.                                             *I heard all the stories and i knew it was good to do what they said. I want to be a basketball player. Some of the reason reason I want to be a basketball player is because of their encouragement. Now I know to make my dream come true i have to stick to it,never give up,and do with you have to do. So now i know i can be a basketball player with no problem.                                                                                                                                                                 

MMN KICKOFF

It has made me surprised that so many students in CTS are in the MMN. Also the teachers that participate in the program such as MR.DEAVOUX who started the program, Mr.Oyeani, Mr.Simkons and all others. It has surprised me because i went on a fild trip with them and it was a minimum of 35 students that attended. Also there were like 15 students that could not make it because of the weather. Our first field trip was to meet three doctors and watch them play in a basketball game. The next event that we had  a mini assenbly witch was about one of the doctors and other important people. At the end we got books of that doctor witch i read and it was about his young life and how he grew up from a street gangster to a doctor who cures rare sicknesses. I hope we have a longer way to go with these field trips.

MALE MENTORING NETWORK KICKOFF

MY FAVORITE PART OF THE ASSEMBLY WAS WHEN ALL THE MENTORS TALKED TO US AND TOLD US WHAT WE SHOULD DO AND DONT DO . I LEARNED ALOT OF STUFF BY HEARING WHAT THE MEN SAID CHANGED THIER LIFE . LISTENING TO THEM MADE ME WAKE AND DO WHAT THEY DID TO BE SUCCESS AND STEAD OF DOING THEIRN CON AND BE A PERSON WITH NO LIFE . IM GLAD THE MENTORS CAME TO TYSON IT WAS AN GREAT EXPERIENCE .

Male Mentoring Kick Off Reaction

My reaction to the male mentoring program was exciting. There was famous people there such as Chris Broussard and many others. There was these famous people talking to us about the wrong and right path. We had a speech presented to us that was very important to all boys and young men. My favorite speech was the speech presented to us from Chris Broussard. He was talking about how he was a Espn sport writer. This was a chance for me to meet famous people.

My favorite part of the assembly was when one of the three doctors from Newark told us about when he was skipping class and ran away from the security guards. I liked that because it was funny how he said he got caught by the principal and the security guard at the same time cause the principal came from a side that they didn't know that they can come from. I also liked the assembly because they told us about there child lives and they had good food like the cakes and stuff.

  My Reaction to it was i was happy to see alot of positive young men there and was ready to sign up and be positive in life and go somewhere and stay out of trouble and start a young campaign. Also to be all in to getting their education , get good grades and do positive things. And also one of the three doctors came in to talk to all of the young men about going somewhere in life.
